How to highlight dupliate values in a column

When entering data to Excel workbooks, it can be important to see whether you have any duplicate values in your data. This could be useful when bringing two lists together that could contain duplicate values (eg invoice lists, mailing lists, etc).

To highlight duplicate values in Excel 2007, do the following:

  1. Select a range of cells, for example, all of Column A.
  2. On the Home menu, click Conditional Formatting (in the Styles Tool Group).
  3. Select Highlight Cells Rules -> Duplicate Values -> OK.

Now existing and future duplicate values in Column A will be highlighted so you can easily see and review them.
