Allow multiple users to work simultaneously in shared workbook
You can share an Excel workbook with those on the same network. This means users on the network can view and make changes to the same workbook simultaneously.
You
can see the names of the users currently working with the workbook and the date and time when they opened the book. When you save your changes to the workbook, you can also see the changes others have made. Finally, a shared workbook is saved as, just that, a shared workbook.
Follow these steps to allow multiple users to work simultaneously in a shared workbook:
- Excel 2007: Select the menu Review Menu - Share Workbook
- Previous Excel versions: Select the menu Tools - Share Workbook.
- Select the Editing tab.
- Check the box Allow changes by more than one user at the same time.
- Click OK.
- Save the workbook to a location on a network where other users can access it.
Everyone with access to the network location where the shared workbook is saved now has the same access to the shared workbook.
